PLANET EPBN - Plan for sustainable Advancement of LGBTIQA+ Workplace Equality in Europe
PLANET EPBN is how we turn EPBN’s mission into action. It’s the initiative behind everything we do to advance LGBTQIA+ workplace equality across Europe — from the conversations we have with EU policymakers to the support we give our member organizations every day.
And as pressure on diversity and inclusion grows across Europe, this initiative is what keeps our work resilient, coordinated, and moving forward.
What is PLANET EPBN?
EPBN exists because LGBTQIA+ people still face real, persistent discrimination at work — and because no other European network focuses on this issue alone.
PLANET EPBN is what lets us act on that mission at scale: it’s the operational backbone that connects our advocacy in Brussels and Strasbourg, the support we give our nearly 30 member organizations in 24 countries, and the tools we build for employers, into one coherent effort. With the backing of the European Commission, this initiative allows us to be present where decisions are made, responsive to what our members need on the ground, and proactive in developing practical solutions for workplace inclusion.
Key Objectives
- Give EPBN and its members a real, permanent seat at the table where EU policy on LGBTQIA+ workplace rights gets shaped.
- Equip our member organizations with the skills, tools, and connections.
- Grow a stronger, wider network of allies and organizations.
Our Approach
- Developing policies that remove barriers to inclusion in the workplace.
- Providing training and resources to empower businesses and employees.
- Promoting sustainable and socially responsible business models.
PLANET EPBN is powered by our members — society organizations from across Europe, each bringing their own experience of what workplace equality looks like, and doesn’t yet look like, in their country. That collective knowledge is what makes EPBN’s advocacy credible and our tools relevant: we’re not guessing at what’s needed, we’re building it together, coordinated by EPBN’s Board and it’s Team.
In practice, the work happens across three connected areas. Our Advocacy work puts EPBN directly in front of the people shaping EU and Council of Europe policy — through institutional visits, policy webinars, and a strategy built to keep LGBTQIA+ workplace rights on the agenda. Our Empowerment work is about our members: regular exchanges, meetings, and training that help organizations grow stronger and more effective, wherever they’re starting from. And our Activity Hub is where we build things employers and member organizations can actually use — including a mentoring program supporting young LGBTQIA+ professionals across Europe, and a research incubator digging into the parts of workplace inclusion we still don’t know enough about.
PLANET EPBN initiative would not be possible without the dedicated support and funding of our valued partners.
